[ENGLISH] “Strip in Midi Side” came to light in the summer 2007 as the brand new project of Luigi Buonaiuto (Giotto), Emanuele Sirica (Maks), and Marco DeFilppo (Amon). The team, already tried and tested with years of experience collaborating in various cover bands, immediately focused on an intensive phase of song-writing, searching for a sound that was able to blend a rock/metal/post-punk background with an electronic sound (synths and drum-machine), heir of two decades of avant-guarde Anglo/American but mostly German sounds.

[ITALIANO] “Strip in Midi Side” nasce nell’estate 2007 come progetto inedito di Luigi Buonaiuto (Giotto), Emanuele Sirica (Maks) e Marco DeFilppo (Amon). Il team, già collaudato da anni di collaborazioni in varie cover band, si concentra sin dal principio su un’intensa fase scritturale tesa in direzione di una ricerca sonora capace di fondere un background rock/metal/post-punk con una componente elettronica (sintetizzatori e drum-machine), erede dell’avanguardia sonora anglo/americana ma soprattutto tedesca dell’ultimo ventennio.

STRIP IN MIDI SIDE @ IMISOUND

[ENGLISH] The group Arawak first came together in the spring of 2003 driven by a common passion for reggae roots. The band, made up of Franco Canu (vocals and rhythm guitar), Andrea Sau (keyboards), Carlo Manca (drums), Gabriele Cordedda (bass), Giovanni Sanna (lead guitar), Elena Temo (vocals), Alfredo Puglia (keyboards and dub master) and Lello Muresu (percussion), have opened shows for groups such as Radici Nel Cemento, Villa Ada, and the renowned Catalan ska group Obrint Pas. In 2008, after a year of preparation, they released their debut CD “Roots Vibrations” with 8 tracks: 3 in Sardinian and 5 in English. The songs deal with various themes such as the relationship with reggae music and some of the typical social problems in Sardinia. In july 2008 the band was invited to give a performance in the Show Case area of the Rototom Sunsplash (Osoppo-Udine). In August of the same year the band gave a performance on the main stage at the Sardinia Reggae Festival (Banari-Sardegna) and the same evening they also performed as backing band for four important artists from the English reggae scene: Errol Bellot, Chanter, Brother CUlture and YT, in a unique and varied show. In the same month the band also gave a performance on the main stage of the Sikula Reggae Festival (Rosolini-Sicilia) as a warm-up to the Italo-Jamaican artist Alborosie, receiving great acclaim both from the public and from the technical judges made up of renowned names such as Bunna (Africa Unite), Roy Paci (Roy Paci & Aretuska) and others, who conferred the group with the first prize. In November 2008 the group set out for a tour in Spain, giving performances in four areas in Andalusia promoting a music that was received with great enthusiasm by the local populace to the point that the group was invited to give an interview for an important Spanish television channel. Another series of concerts is being programmed in Andalusia for next spring. The band is currently working towards the release of a new album.

[ITALIANO] Gli Arawak nascono nella primavera del 2003 dalla passione comune per il reggae roots. Gli Arawak, attualmente composti da Franco Canu (voce+chitarra ritmica), Andrea Sau (tastiere), Carlo Manca (Batteria), Gabriele Cordedda (basso), Giovanni Sanna (chitarra solista), Elena Temo (voce), Alfredo Puglia (tastiere+dub master) e Lello Muresu (percussioni), hanno l’occasione di aprire i concerti a gruppi come Radici nel cemento, Villa ada, e ad un notissimo gruppo ska catalano: gli Obrint Pas. Nel 2008, dopo un anno di lavorazione è uscito il primo cd “ROOTS VIBRATIONS” che contiene 8 canzoni delle quali 3 in lingua sarda e 5 in lingua inglese. Le canzoni trattano diversi temi tra i quali il rapporto con la musica reggae e i problemi sociali caratteristici della Sardegna. Nel Luglio 2008 la band viene invitata ad esibirsi nell’area Show Case del ROTOTOM SUNSPLASH (Osoppo -Udine),nel mese di Agosto la band si esibisce sul Main Stage del SARDINIA REGGAE FESTIVAL (Banari-Sardegna), nella stessa serata accompagna come backing-band quattro grandi nomi del panorama reggae inglese quali Errol Bellot, Chanter, Brother Culture e YT, creando uno spettacolo originale e poliedrico. Sempre nel mese di Agosto la band, invitata dalla organizzazione, si esibisce sul Main Stage del SIKULA REGGAE FESTIVAL (Rosolini-Sicilia) precedendo l’esibizione dell’artista italo-jamaicano Alborosie, riscuotendo un successo particolare sia tra il pubblico che tra la giuria tecnica formata da nomi noti quali Bunna (Africa Unite), Roy Paci (Roy Paci & Aretuska)e altri, la quale gli conferisce il primo premio. La band nel Novembre 2008 parte per un tour in Spagna e si esibisce in quattro zone dell’Andalusia promuovendo una musica che viene accolta con grande entusiasmo dal pubblico locale, e viene perciò invitata a rilasciare un intervista in un servizio per un importante televisione spagnola. Si progetta già un’altra serie di date in Andalusia per la prossima primavera. La band è ora al lavoro per il nuovo album.

ARAWAK @ IMISOUND

[ENGLISH] If you love psychedelia and rock’n'roll, but above all if you want to listen to a stupendous female voice (a mixture of Grace Slick, Janis Joplin, P.J. Harvey, Chrissie Hynde, and a female version of Robert Plant) then ALiX is your band. Imagine a dinner party with 2/4 of the first edition of Fu Manchu, John Garcia in his historical guise of Unida and the odd waiter here and there provided by Spirit Caravan and Masters of Reality. Four albums to date: Alix (1997), Cuore in Bocca (1999), Nessun Brivido (2001), Ground (2004), which have made them famous in the stoner circuits of half of Europe. In 2000 the band shared the stage of the Heineken Jammin’ Festival in Imola with Muse, Guano Apes, Primal Scream and Rage Against the Machine, as winners of the first edition of RockrEvolution. In 2003, the European tour with the Norwegian band Pawnshop and the Swedish band Dozer earned ALiX the title of “Italian Psychedelic Groove Rock Band”. The year 2004 saw them on tour again in Europe, this time with the American band The Hidden Hand, the new band of Scott “Wino” Weinrich (famous also for his participation in Dave Grohl’s Probot project). An exceptional review of the album Ground came from the English magazine Kerrang! which awarded the band with a (KKKK). In 2005/2006 the group performed live in various tours both in Italy and abroad. The new album recorded in February 2008 was mixed by Steve Albini, producer of Nirvana, Stooges, Pixies and many others. The album was recorded at Red House Recordings in Senigallia.

Harvey, Chrissie Hynde e una versione femminile di Robert Plant) allora gli ALiX fanno per voi. Immaginate una cena tra amici dove prendano posto 2/4 dei Fu Manchu first edition, John Garcia nei panni sonici degli Unida e qualche cameriere sparso assunto dalle ditte Spirit Caravan e Masters Of Reality. Quattro cd all’attivo: Alix (1997), Cuore in Bocca (1999), Nessun Brivido (2001) e Ground (2004), che li ha resi famosi nel circuito stoner di mezza Europa. Nel 2000, suonano sul palco del Heineken Jammin’ Festival di Imola con i Muse, Guano Apes, Primal Scream e Rage Against The Machine, come gruppo vincitore della prima edizione di RockrEvolution. Nel 2003, il tour europeo con i norvegesi Pawnshop e gli svedesi Dozer, fa guadagnare agli ALiX il titolo di “Italian Psychedelic Groove Rock Band”. Nel 2004, nuovamente in tour europeo, assieme agli americani The Hidden Hand, la nuova band di Scott “Wino” Weinrich (noto anche per aver partecipato al progetto Probot di Dave Grohl). Tra le più belle recensioni di GROUND, sicuramente spicca quella del giornale inglese Kerrang! che da agli ALiX (KKKK). Nel 2005/2006 si esibiscono in vari tour in Italia e all’estero. Il nuovo disco che hanno registrato a Febbraio 2008,”G00d 1″, ha visto al mixer Steve Albini, già produttore di Nirvana, Stooges, Pixies e moltissimi altri. Lo studio che li ha ospitati è il “Red House Recordings” di Senigallia.

[ENGLISH] “UnderScore” came to life in the spring of 2003 when Pasquale (bass and vocals) and Antonio (former guitarist) decided to set up a cover band. The duo were soon joined by Diego (drums) and Carlo (keyboards) and in the summer of 2004 they started to write their own material, producing their first demos in 2005. In April 2006 Antonio left the band and after a number of unsuccessful experiences with other guitarists, the band decided to experiment with melodic and distinctive, guitar-free sound. The experiment proved successful and the new UnderScore sound was at once used to great effect on the four-track “Children On Birthday” EP.

[ITALIANO] Gli “UnderScore” nasce nella primavera del 2003 quando Pasquale (basso e voce) e Antonio (ex-chitarrista) decidono to formare un cover band. Al duo si aggiungono presto Diego (batteria) e Carlo (tastiera) e nell’estate del 2004 cominciono a scrivere i propri brani e producono i primi demo nel 2005. Nel aprile 2006 Antonio lascia il gruppo e dopo varie esperienze deludenti con altri chitarristi, il gruppo decide di sperimentare un suono melodico e charatterizante, senza chitarra. Lo sperimento funziona e il nuovo suono degli “UnderScore” viene usato con grande effetto nei quattro brani del EP “Children On Birthday”.

JAMBALAYA @ IMISOUND

[ENGLISH] Armida, a pagan and esoteric character in Torquato Tasso’s poetical “Liberated Jerusalem”, who first intrigues and then stirs the emotions. Her story, in the year 2000, laid the foundations for the group “ArmidA”, four individuals mixing their musical ideas and searching at the same time for a common and distinctive identity. Like the historical character, theirs is a continuing research for hidden emotional states, brought to light by a sound that oscillates from psychedelic to progressive without altering its strong postgrunge matrix. It is a meeting of breathtaking atmospheres and walls of granite sound that shatter on contact with harsh melodies wrapped in whirling rhythmic spirals.

[ITALIANO] Armida, personaggio pagano e esoterico nella poetica “Gerusalemme Liberata” di Torquato Tasso, che prima affascina e poi commuove. La sua storia, nel 2000, pone le basi del gruppo “ArmidA”, nato dall’incontro dei quattro elementi che fondono le loro idee musicali, ricercando al contempo un sound comune e particolare. La loro, come per il personaggio letterario, è una ricerca continua di stati emozionali nascosti, portati alla luce da un suono che oscilla dalla psichedelica al progressive, non snaturando una forte matrice postgrunge. E’ un incontro tra atmosfere mozzafiato e granitici muri di suono che si infrangono a contatto con le graffianti melodie avvolte in vorticose spirali ritmiche.

[ENGLISH] His name’s Angelo Elle and he’s a singer/songwriter, at least that’s what the people who know him say. When he hears that word he smells the scent of mothballs but he’s going to have a word with his analyst about it. We could tell you about everything he’s done but we’ll start with what he hasn’t done. He hasn’t sold 100,000 copies, they don’t want him at TRL, they say that long hair isn’t fashionable, and they refuse to show the video of his first communion on MTV: even on Brand New. When they ask him, because they always ask him, “what genre do you do?”, he replies that in his musical circus you can find a bit of everything, pop-eaters, reggae-walkers, rock-tamers: all in a constant search for a simple and immediate means of communication.

[ITALIANO] Si chiamo Angelo Elle ed è un cantautore, almeno così dicono le persone che lo conoscono. Quando lui sente questa parola sente odore di naftalina ma ne parlerà con il suo analista. Potremo raccontarvi tutto quello che ha fatto ma iniziamo con quello che non ha fatto. Non ha venduto 100.000 copie, a TRL non lo vogliono, dicono che i capelli lunghi non sono alla moda, e non passano il video della sua prima comunione su MTV, neanche a Brand New. Quando chiedono, perché glielo chiedono sempre, “che genere fai?”, risponde che nel suo circo musicale si può trovare di tutto, mangiatori di pop, equilibristi del reggae, domatori di rock: il tutto in una costante ricerca di una comunicazione semplice ed immediata.

[ENGLISH] Gianni Raschiatore, aka Kernell32: keyboard player, arranger, programmer, author and composer of great experience. His business is arranging and producing music for theatrical events, and he has also been involved in numerous collaborations with emerging artists. Two albums already released, “Sunday Morning” and “On My Mind” and a third on its way, the music of Kernell32 is different, original tracks whose nuances and arrangements are never the same but are united by a common denominator – the desire to amaze the listener, accompanying him on a trip within a new refined music: a trip that winds up at the heart of the lounge genre.

[ITALIANO] Gianni Raschiatore, aka Kernell32: tastierista, arrangiatore, programmatore, autore e compositore di grande esperienza. Si occupa degli arrangiamenti e della realizzazione delle musiche per spettacoli teatrali, e vanta numerose collaborazioni con musicisti emergenti. Due album già usciti, “Sunday Morning” e “On My Mind” e un terzo in arrivo, la musica di Kernell32 è diversa, brani originali con sfumature e arraggiamenti mai uguali, ma uniti da un comune denominatore – la voglia di stupire chi li ascolta, accompagnandolo in un viaggio all’interno della musica piu’ nuova e ricercata, fino ad arrivare in fondo all’anima del genere lounge.
