Spotlight Artist: Mario Chianello

Mario Chianello studied piano at the “G.B. Martini” conservatory in Bologna. In 1985 he recorded some of his songs with the bands Silvery Down and Nice & Style for Cicco Records in New York and for Match Records in Bellinzona, Switzerland. He has worked as an arranger at Chorus Studio in Bologna and has performed for Telethon (on TV) and in many cultural festivals playing his compositions on the piano. In 2002 he performed with the Didi Balboni band. He has been playing with the Genesis cover band “Domino+” since 1996. They perform live and are currentlly recording a double CD. In April 2005 the ‘One Side Live’ DVD was released; filmed live in Trieste on 15th September 2004, it captures a very energetic performance on a big stage in the evocative main square of the city. Since 2004 he has been sitting in with the band “Panzer” – 70’s Disco music and 80’s rock. In 2004, Mario’s first cd ‘Proxima’ was released. He recorded the songs for ‘Proxima’ in his home studio. Listening to the album, we are carried through different musical landscapes, from new age atmospheres to classical piano tracks, from a bag pipe on the hills of Scotland to a pipe organ in Notre Dame and a few other things in between. In a few words: 43 minutes of intense musical emotions. Mario is currently working on his second CD.

Mario Chianello ha studiato pianoforte presso il conservatorio “G.B. Martini” di Bologna. Nel 1985 ha inciso brani di sua composizione con i gruppi Silvery Down e Nice & Style per la Cicco Records di New York e per la Match Records di Bellinzona. Ha collaborato come arrangiatore presso lo studio di registrazione Chorus di Bologna. Ha tenuto concerti di organo, ha partecipato al Telethon nel 1995 e a diverse manifestazioni culturali, eseguendo al pianoforte sue composizioni. Nel 2002 ha fatto parte della band di Didi Balboni. Dal 1996 fa parte della cover band Genesis “Domino+”. Eseguono concerti live e stanno ultimando un CD contenente il loro repertorio. Nell’Aprile 2005 è uscito il DVD ‘One Side Live’; filmato durante il concerto dal vivo il 15 Settembre 2004 a Trieste, mostra una performance piena di energia nella magica piazza dell’Unità d’Italia. Dal 2004 collabora con la band “Panzer” – disco music anni ‘70 e ‘80 e rock. Nel 2004 è uscito il suo primo CD ‘Proxima’. Ha registrato i brani di ‘Proxima’ nel suo studio. Ascoltando l’album, si compie un viaggio ideale tra differenti panorami musicali, dall’atmosfera new age al pianoforte classico, da una cornamusa sulle colline scozzesi ad un organo in Notre Dame…In poche parole: 43 minuti di intense emozioni musicali. Attualmente sta lavorando al suo secondo CD.
