Come numerose altre bands, “The River” nascono grazie all’amore che i suoi componenti provano per la musica. Davide Leone (voce/chitarra/piano) e Andrea Cignarelli (chitarra elettrica), entrambi tranesi, trascorrono le serate parlando della loro passione e delle loro ispirazioni musicali (si tratta principalmente di gruppi musicali britannici)e scambiandosi dischi. Con il crescere dell’amicizia comincia a nascere l’idea di fondare un rock band. La lunga e faticosa ricerca di altri musicisti per completare l’organico giunge al termine quando ai due si uniscono Massimiliano Di Lauro, bassista e Tommaso Sgarangella batterista, giovanissimi ma con alle spalle varie esperienze in studio e live. L’entusiasmo li porta a scrivere numerosi brani, otto dei quali verranno registrati nel Novembre del 2007, in soli tre giorni in uno studio di registrazione della loro città, ed entreranno a far parte del loro primo demo, “The River”. Forti di una popolarità a livello locale, ottenuta grazie a questo primo lavoro e a una serie di concerti e varie interviste radiofoniche nella provincia, i The River riescono ad ottenere riconoscimenti anche a livello nazionale, classificandosi terzi al concorso “Contaminazione 2007” tenutosi a Bisceglie (Ba), arrivando in semifinale (con altri nove gruppi su ottocento partecipanti selezionati in tutta la penisola) al “RockContest” di Firenze, partecipano al “Italian Wave” nel 2008 ottenendo un premio come Band rivelazione e al “Prove di Rock” di Salerno vincendo il premio come miglior brano in gara. Ad un anno dalla loro nascita si può dire senza dubbio che “The River” scorre bene: hanno diviso il palco con artisti come The Niro, Les Fauves, A Toys Orchestra, Project Komakino (UK) and Violet (UK) e hanno attirato perfino l’attenzione della EMI con il singolo “Don’t give back”.

Like many other bands, “The River” springs from a shared passion for music. Davide Leone (voice/guitar/piano) and Andrea Cignarelli (electric guitar), both from Trani on the south-east coast of Italy, spent many an evening talking about their musical inspirations (mainly British groups) and aspirations and exchanging albums. As their friendship grew so did the idea of forming a rock group of their own. The long and arduous task of completing the line-up finally came to an end when two young musicians, Massimiliano Di Lauro (bass) and Tommaso Sgarangella (drums), both with plenty of experience both live and in the studio, joined the band. The initial enthusiasm led them to compose numerous tracks, eight of which were recorded in November 2007 in a three-day recording session in their hometown and became part of their first demo “The River”. On the strength of their local popularity, obtained thanks to the demo and to a series of concerts and radio interviews in the local area, The River started to gain recognition on a national level, coming third in the “Contaminazione 2007” contest in Bisceglie, reaching the semifinals (together with nine other groups from an original 800 groups from all over Italy) in the “RockContest” in Florence, obtaining a prize as ‘revelation band’ in the 2008 “Italian Wave” contest, and winning another prize for the best track in the Prove di Rock” in Salerno. A year has passed since the initial formation of the band and without doubt “The River” is flowing well: they have shared the stage with artists such as The Niro, Les Fauves, A Toys Orchestra, Project Komakino (UK) and Violet (UK) and have even attracted the attention of EMI with their single “Don’t Give Back”.

La Sornette nasce nel 1980 a Novara. Negli anni si è evoluta ed arricchita di collaborazioni artistiche prestigiose, divenendo dal 2000 una delle band di musica folk cantautorale più interessanti del panorama musicale italiano. Nel 1983 La Sornette si esibisce a Transitaliana a Cervia di fronte a migliaia di spettatori per poi partecipare ai concerti dell’Istituto del Corona di Livorno. Più volte suona per la manifestazione Folkermesse. La svolta artistica per il gruppo è rappresentata dal primo premio speciale per musica etnica-jazz ai Concorsi Internazionali Val Tidone che La Sornette vince nel 2000, dimostrando che il gruppo ha raggiunto piena maturità musicale. Nel 2002 l’editore RED Ediz. propone al gruppo il primo disco a diffusione nazionale con 14 brani che rappresentano uno spaccato della musica traditional del Piemonte. Il disco è accolto con grande entusiasmo dalla critica specializzata e risulta un successo di vendite. In seguito La Sornette inizia un percorso più personale, allargando il proprio repertorio alla musica etno-folk di tutta l’Italia settentrionale ed inserendo diversi spunti personali composti dal maestro Emanuele Cadario in stile folk-cantautorale. Il tour “Suoni e Voci dell’Altra Musica” farà conoscere il nuovo sound in diverse tappe in Italia per due anni consecutivi, nel 2003 e 2004. Sempre nel 2004 il gruppo viene chiamata per realizzare brani che compariranno per l’editore tedesco Dejavu Retro nelle collane “Gold Collection” sulla musica etnica mondiale, permettendo a La Sornette di comparire insieme ai gruppi storici della musica folk internazionale. Seguirà il tour 2005 dal titolo “Siamo qui da voi, signori” che registra un grande consenso di pubblico e di critica. Con il tour 2006 dal titolo “Venti di Musica Etnoacustica” La Sornette viene apprezzata da migliaia di persone intervenute ai numerosi concerti e festival italiani. Il gruppo ha trovato il suo sound ed è sufficientemente maturo per esprimere ora una sua autonomia stilistica: nasce il termine musica “Etnoacustica” (di cui La Sornette rivendica la paternità e l’unicità) con l’intento di evocare un’immagine visiva del suono. Il contributo di musicisti provenienti dall’area classica, leggera e jazz, alza la dignità della proposta pur senza ripudiarne le origini. Si vuole sottolineare l’accostamento e la contaminazione di stili differenti attraverso cui ogni ascoltatore trova uno spunto diverso, un legame con il passato, un’idea musicale completamente nuova e suggestiva. Il tour procede anche per il 2007 e tocca 18 città italiane con ampio successo di pubblico e critica. Il Tour promuove l’uscita di un nuovo disco “Etnoacustica” nel quale La Sornette conferma la propria identità musicale spaziando dal traditional al folk d’autore. Il nuovo disco viene prodotto per l’etichetta EtnoAcustica Music e Re Nudo Edizioni ed è distribuito in tutta Italia, Austria, Germania.

La Sornette first saw the light in Novara in the year 1980. Since then the group has evolved and enriched its production with prestigious artistic collaborations to the point of becoming, by the year 2000, one of the most interesting folk groups on the Italian musical scene. In 1983 the band played at Transitaliana in Cervia in front of thousands of spectators and went on to participate in the concerts held by the Institute of Corona in Livorno. The band has also played several times at the Folkermesse festival. The artistic turning-point came for the group when they won the special prize for ethnic-jazz music at the International Val Tidone Competition in 2000, showing that they had reached complete artistic maturity. In 2002 the label Red Ediz. offered the group national distribution for a 14-track album representing the essence of traditional Piemontese music. The album was received with great enthusiasm by the specialised press and sold well. In the wake of the album the group set out in a more personal direction, broadening their repertoire to include ethnic-folk music from all over northern Italy and a number of original folk compositions by Emanuele Cadario. For two consecutive years, 2003 and 2004, the “Suoni e Voci dell’Altra Musica” tour brought the group’s new sound to the attention of the general public throughout Italy. In 2004 the group was asked to produce some tracks for the German label Dejavu Retro’s “Gold Collection” edition of global ethnic music, giving La Sornette the opportunity to appear alongside numerous well-known international folk groups. Two further tours in 2005 and 2006, “Siamo qui da voi, signori” and “Venti di Musica Etnoacustica” were received with great enthusiasm both by the general public and by the critics. At this point the group had found its distinctive sound and was sufficiently mature to express a certain stylistic autonomy: the genre ‘Etnoacustica’ was born (La Sornette’s official trademark) with the aim of evoking a visual image of the sound. The contribution of musicians coming from other areas such as classical, easy listening and jazz has without doubt given added dignity to the overall sound without repudiating its more humble origins. It is thanks to the mixing and matching of these different genres and styles that every listener is able to find his own interpretation, his own particular tie with the past, a completely new and highly suggestive musical style. The group’s live tour continued in 2007, receiving further accolades both from the general public and from the critics in eighteen Italian cities. The 2007 tour served as a promotion vehicle for the new album “Etnoacustica” in which La Sornette have solidly confirmed their musical identity, moving easily between traditional and original folk compositions. The new album was produced by the “Etnoacustica” and “Re Nudo” labels and has been distributed throughout Italy, Austria and Germany.

Gli “UnderScore” nasce nella primavera del 2003 quando Pasquale (basso e voce) e Antonio (ex-chitarrista) decidono di formare un cover band. Al duo si aggiungono Diego (batteria) e Carlo (tastiera) e ben presto, nell’estate del 2004, il grupppo rinuncia ai cover e comincia a scrivere i propri testi, uscendo con il primo demo nel 2005. Nel aprile 2006 Antonio lascia il gruppo e dopo varie esperienze deludenti con altri chitarristi, il gruppo decide di sperimentare un nuovo suono, melodico e caratterizzante, senza chitarra. Lo sperimento funziona e il suono viene subito catturato e utilizzato con grande effetto nei quattro brani del EP “Children On Birthday”.

The “UnderScore” came to life in the spring of 2003 when Pasquale (bass and vocals) and Antonio (former guitarist) decided to set up a cover band. The duo were soon joined by Diego (drums) and Carlo (keyboards) and before long, in the summer of 2004, the group gave up cover songs and started to write their own material, coming out with its first demo in 2005. In April 2006 Antonio left the band and after a number of unsuccessful experiences with other guitarists, the band decided to experiment with a new, melodic and distinctive, guitar-free sound. The experiment proved successful and the sound was at once captured and used to great effect on the four-track “Children On Birthday” EP.

Gli Spleen nascono nel 2004 grazie all’unione di 6 musicisti: Mimmo Di Cicco (batteria), Antonio Isernia (basso), Stefano Formato (chitarra), Alessandro Nunziata (chitarra), Francesco Pirone (tastiera), Alessandro Granato (voce). Nel Giugno del 2005 vincono il primo “Rock Contest” ed iniziano le registrazioni della demo “Ghost note (E)xperiment”. Nel settembre dello stesso anno è già tempo di un cambio di “line up”: Alessandro Nunziata lascia la band continuando così con un quintetto prog classico. In seguito a varie serate e non poche vicissitudini gli Spleen, a causa di divergenze circa il genere, affrontano l’abbandono da parte di Alessandro Granato. Alla ricerca estenuante di una voce idonea, si aggiunge la perdita di Francesco Pirone (tastiere) la quale certo non giova alla band. I 3 membri fondatori proseguono speranzosi il loro cammino….finchè non contattano Enzo Conte (voce) che riporta speranza nel gruppo. Nasce ancora il nuovo quintetto reperendo il talentuoso tastierista Adriano Aponte che rimmarrà punto di riferimento per il futuro. L’ accenno di stabilità formatasi porta la band ad iniziare una fase di composizione e serate. Nell’ aprile 2006 gli Spleen suonano al motoraduno “Harley Davidson” ad Agerola con la partecipazione di: Up The Irons, Marshall ed i già noti Rain. Nel giugno dello stesso anno dopo l’abbandono del loro cantante il gruppo ottiene – grazie all’intervento della voce di Rosario Vitiello- la vittoria del “Rock Contest” 2006, la quale permette agli stessi di registrare una nuova demo - con alla voce Marco Mangiapia - Ora, dopo un lungo periodo di stallo dove la voce viene nuovamente a mancare, finalmente trovano nelle corde di Olga Mangiacapra una facile soluzione. Si esibiscono così nell’aprile del 2007 ad uno dei migliori festival del meridione : Heavy Naples – Dual Beat – Agnano, al quale hanno partecipato: Paintbox, Gorgeous, Savior from Anger, Loadstar, Marshall. L’epopea continua e nel settembre 2007 gli Spleen trovano la loro formazione definitiva nuovamente con Marco Mangiapia alla voce e la “new entry” Davide Amodeo al basso. Nel maggio 2007 è in uscita il disco live, “Heavy Naples Fest 2007” prodotto dalla “PMP”; il quale nei mesi a seguire ha visto la sua recensione in vari mensili specializzati. Nel febbraio 2008 la band scala la vetta del prestigioso “Festival di Saint-Vincent” arrivando in finale (ancora da svolgere) e il 29 marzo aprono la manifestazione al Palapartenope di Napoli per l’edizion dell’Heavy Naples 2008. Gli Spleen sono attualmente impegnati alla lavorazione della loro nuova demo.

Spleen was formed in 2004 when 6 musicians came together for the first time: Mimmo Di Cicco (drums), Antonio Isernia (bass), Stefano Formato (guitar), Alessandro Nunziata (guitar), Francesco Pirone (keyboards), Alessandro Granato (vocals). In June 2005 they won the first “Rock Contest” and strated recording the demo “Ghost Note (E)xperiment”. September of the same year saw the first line-up change with Alessandro Nunziata leaving the band to continue playing with a classical progressive quintet. After a number of live gigs and various disagreements over the musical genre of the group, the lead singer Alessandro Granato also left the band, shortly followed by the keyboard player Francesco Pirone. It was not a good moment for the group, but the three remaining founder members remained hopeful and eventually put together a new quintet with the singer Enzo Conte and the talented keyboard player Adriano Aponte who was to become a key figure in the future of the band. Having regained a certain stability, the band started composing and playing live once again, participating in the “Harley Davidson” motorbike rally in Agerola in April 2006 with bands such as Up The Irons, Marshall and Rain. In June of the same year, with Rosario Vitiello replacing Enzo Conte as lead singer, the group won the “Rock Contest” 2006 and received the opportunity to record a new demo with the voice of Marco Mangiapia. Another period followed with no lead singer until the arrival of Olga Mangiacapra and the participation in April 2007 in one of the major festivals in southern Italy: Heavy Naples – Dual Beat – Agnano, sharing the stage with Paintbox, Gorgeous, Savior from Anger, Loadstar and Marshall. The perennial line-up problem persisted until September 2007 when the band finally found its definitive formation with the return of Marco Mangiapia as lead vocalist ad the arrival of Davide Amodeo on bass. In May 2007 the live compilation CD, “Heavy Naples Fest 2007” (produced by “PMP”) was released and in the following months received reviews in numerous specialized magazines. Spleen opened the show for “Heavy Naples 2008” in March and are still in the running for the finals of the prestigious “Festival di Saint-Vincent”. Meanwhile the group is working hard on a brand new and soon-to-be-released demo CD.

“Strip in Midi Side” nasce nell’estate 2007 come progetto inedito di Luigi Buonaiuto (Giotto), Emanuele Sirica (Maks) e Marco DeFilppo (Amon). Il team, già collaudato da anni di collaborazioni in varie cover band, si concentra sin dal principio su un’intensa fase scritturale tesa in direzione di una ricerca sonora capace di fondere un background rock/metal/post-punk con una componente elettronica (sintetizzatori e drum-machine), erede dell’avanguardia sonora anglo/americana ma soprattutto tedesca dell’ultimo ventennio. Dal mese di dicembre 2007 iniziano una vivace attività live nella quale si evidenziano quelle caratteristiche di “show-entertainment” che, ben sposandosi con il sound potente e ritmato, creeranno quel mix di tradizione rock, avanguardia elettronica e spettacolo che contraddistinguerà come marchio di fabbrica la cosiddetta “stripping experience”.

“Strip in Midi Side” came to light in the summer 2007 as the brand new project of Luigi Buonaiuto (Giotto), Emanuele Sirica (Maks), and Marco DeFilppo (Amon). The team, already tried and tested with years of experience collaborating in various cover bands, immediately focused on an intensive phase of song-writing, searching for a sound that was able to blend a rock/metal/post-punk background with an electronic sound (synths and drum-machine), heir of two decades of avant-guarde Anglo/American but mostly German sounds. Since December 2007 the band has been giving amazing live performances in which the “show-entertainment” feature, together with powerful rhythms, has created a mix of rock, avant-guarde electronica and entertainment that has become the band’s trademark: known as the “stripping experience”.

“Seven Dark Eyes” came to light in April 2002 when the founder members decided to give birth to a project that would allow them to unleash their passion for Gothic Metal and for bands like Lacuna Coil and The Gathering. Initially the group was little more than a side-project, but as time went by the group’s activity became more and more intense with live exhibitions in numerous venues in the local area. During the winter of 2003 the group composed and arranged the tracks that would eventually make up the mini CD “Lost Dreams”: a small concept album on the subject of dreams that was to receive excellent reviews. After a number of years playing live, the group locked itself into a recording studio and composed the debut album “…Across Oneiric Lands…” which was published in 2008 by the indie label Underground Symphony.

“Seven Dark Eyes” nasce nel aprile del 2002 quando i primi componenti del gruppo decidono di iniziare un progetto per dare sfogo alla loro passione per il Gothic Metal e per band come i Lacuna Coil e i The Gathering. Inizialmente il gruppo è poco più di un side project ma con il passare del tempo l’attività si fa più intensa esibendosi con successo in vari locali della zona. Durante l’inverno del 2003 vengono composti e arrangiati i pezzi che andranno a completare il mini cd “Lost Dreams”: un piccolo concept album sui sogni, che riceve eccellenti giudizi dalla critica. Dopo alcuni anni di varie attività live si rinchiudono in studio di registrazione e compongo il loro debut album “…Across Oneiric Lands…” che viene pubblicato nel 2008 dall’etichetta discografica Underground Symphony.
